Team Member Relations Manager - Prairie Band Casino & Resort
The Team Member Relations Manager is responsible for maintaining a high level of confidentiality regarding Team Member issues and concerns, and ensuring that open communication is practiced among Team Members, management/supervisors and directors regarding performance expectations and work environment issues. This job position monitors the PBCR work environment to ensure consistent compliance with appropriate labor laws, and established Team Member management policies and procedures. The Team Member Relations Manager is additionally responsible for dispute resolution and investigation, and management of the Team Member grievance process. This position requires vigilant oversight and application of tribal, local, and state Team Member policies and regulations (to the extent these regulations are appropriate for an enterprise wholly owned by a sovereign Tribal nation).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Responsible for the development and administration of the Team Member Relations Program; Team Member advocacy, and diversity program.
- Interfaces with Team Members, government agencies, and educational institutions.
- Reviews exit interviews with department leadership to determine corrective action to retain valued staff and/or improve Team Member retention.
- Discusses exit interview findings with senior management, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- With approval from senior management, establishes constructive Team Member relations practices that support a positive employer-Team Member relationship and morale within the parameters of Company’s principles, policies, and programs.
- Reviews current Team Member policies for compliance with local, state, government and tribal labor policies and regulations, and advises Senior Management of areas of concern.
- Oversees the administration of PBCR’s classification of Team Members consistent with the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Program, and Team Member leave under established policies and procedures.
- Acts as primary contact between management and Team Member during initial stages of conflict management including mediation and grievance proceedings. Facilitates dispute resolution and investigation of Team Member grievances.
- Helps Team Members, supervisors, and department heads to settle work-related conflicts through advice and recommendation.
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
- Oversees PBCR’s performance management program.
- Promotes development of top talent within the property in accordance with company plans.
- Protects company and Team Member interests in the grievance process, within current Human Resources policies in evaluating Team Member complaints.
- Advises senior management of significant employment challenges that affect the overall work environment of the Property and the achievement of PBCR’s strategic objectives.
- Oversees PBCR’s training and Team Member development program.
- Answers all Team Member or public requests promptly and professionally.
- Maintains an exceptional personal appearance and behavior, reflecting the image of the Property and the Human Resources Department.
- Remains abreast of current trends, regulatory changes, and cost containment alternatives.
- Ensures Director is aware of and advised of the status of any outstanding Human Resources issues and projects.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include maintaining sufficient staffing levels; interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Develops and participates in special projects and completes other duties as requested or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Required
- Five years of Human Resources management experience, with one year administration experience
- Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An additional 5+ years of gaming experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
- A record of satisfactory performance and reliability in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
- Strong supervisory and management skills.
- Exceptional facilitation and communication abilities.
- Technical expertise in Tribal employment law, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and PBCR’s application of the Family Medical Leave Program.
- The ability to maintain an established work schedule that provides management oversight of team members, and on-call assistance, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Effective use of organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and internet software.
- Computer-related problem-solving skills through the use of available trainings and help desk.
Preferred
- PHR or SPHR certified
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino and be able lift up to 25 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk
- Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment, including phones, personal computers, fax machines, and photo copiers
- Must be able to work at a fast pace in stressful situations and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
