Employee Relations Specialist - Kansas Department of Revenue
This position is employed in the Employee Relations (ER) Unit in the Revenue Office of Personnel Services (OPS). This position reports directly to the Deputy Director (ER Manager). The ER unit comprises of the ER Manager, the ER Specialist and this position (Administrative Officer). The ER unit is responsible for examining relationships between employees and the Agency; implementing employee policies that establish rules regarding performance, conduct, and discipline; building strategies that create an environment where employees are committed to their jobs and loyal to the Agency; overseeing programs that provide fair and consistent treatment to all employees and comply with state and federal law, including but not limited to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act (ADAAA). In support of the functions of the ER Unit, the Administrative Officer is responsible for performing a variety of office administrative tasks independently while keeping employee confidentiality. The Administrative Officer position relieves the ER Manager and ER Specialist of important details in our work, including but not limited to: maintaining ER and medical files both electronically and paper-form; tracking completion of ER cases, temporary work adjustments, ADA requests, business attire exceptions and ergonomic requests; informing supervisors of employees' status upon return to work from medical leave, meeting with employees for exit interviews; serving as a secondary interviewer on investigations; compiling exit survey/interview data and entrance survey data; proofreading and verifying correspondence; and relaying or explaining general ER policy and program information to managers and employees.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license to perform the essential functions of this position.
Minimum Qualifications: Four years of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Experience: Six months of experience in Employee Relations, Legal and/or Human Resource compliance areas. Experience using Microsoft Forms and SHaRP. Ability to keep highly sensitive medical and protected personal information confidential. Work well independently. Extensive experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (or other word processing, spreadsheets, and email programs). Fast and accurate typing skills. Proficient in business professional writing, grammar, and punctuation.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: KBI and FBI fingerprint required due to access to Federal Tax Information files in KDOR systems.
