HR Business Partner - BCBS of KS
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is currently recruiting for HR Business Partners that will be responsible for developing and fostering strong relationships with management in order to develop tactical and strategic employee and organization development strategies in support of the business objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Builds strong relationships and provides trusted advice to management on current and future workforce planning needs.
Assess and anticipate human resources-related needs and provide input on workforce planning and department organizational structure.
Provide business unit with consultant services to develop solutions to address complex employee issues and to develop ways to strengthen leadership capability and effectiveness, including employee development and engagement.
Works with management, legal, and compliance to ensure employment law related issues and risks are thoroughly investigated and managed appropriately.
Works to ensure a positive, productive and cohesive work environment by dealing with workplace conduct, conflict resolution, counseling, employee engagement, and other employee relations activities and develop ways to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Coach management and staff to develop a positive employee relations climate.
Consults and/or counsels with all levels of employees on interpretation of human resources policies; performance and disciplinary issues; and complaints of illegal discrimination or harassment.
Consult with leadership on performance management and is responsible for the administration development, and recommendations for the employee performance management program.
Reviews, approves and/or makes recommendations on terminations and other adverse employment actions to identify and prevent or resolve, if possible, any employment discrimination issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field is required. Certification in SHRM or other human resource-related organization is preferred.
Experience:
Requires 3 years of experience in human resources or 6 years in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Three (3) years' experience in complex employee relations is preferred.
Experience in investigation and resolution of charges related to discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, or related retaliation preferred.
Experience in counseling and advising employees in order to resolve problems and concerns.
Knowledge/Skills:
A comprehensive knowledge of human resources practices, policies and procedures.
High level of customer service skills and ability to deal with all types of situations and problems in a calm and professional manner.
A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally at all times.
Strong business acumen, with the ability to influence and partner with leaders at all levels.
Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal employee laws and regulations.
Highly developed and effective leadership and strategic influencing skills.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting.
