    The Manager of Human Resources is responsible for driving the company culture and making Berlin-Wheeler, Inc. (“BWI”) “the place” to work. This includes identify and hiring the talent the company requires to meet business objectives. This individual will lead employee relations, benefit administration, compensation planning, organizational development, talent management, HR processes and systems. This person will lead daily HR operations and administration, driving continuous improvement and excellence in service delivery.
     

    Major Duties:

    •             Oversees all HR management functions: employee relations, recruiting, staffing and on-boarding; training and development; benefits administration; payroll & compensation; performance management; retention; exits; etc.

    •             Partners with the leadership team to establish the appropriate HR policies and procedures to provide guidance and solutions to managers and employees and maintain the corporate culture.

    •             Designs and implement new employee on-boarding.

    •             Creates and manages annual performance management plan and merit increases.

    •             Serves as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies and helping resolve work-related challenges.

    •             Maintains records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, compensation and other records.

    •             Provides timely information and education for all levels of the organization on critical/emerging HR issues that have potential impact to the company.

    •             Manages compliance programs and ensures compliance with legal requirements.

    •             Serves as a link between management and employees while keeping appropriate employee information confidential and secure.

    •             Works with executive management to continue building an HR function that fosters a strong collaborative work environment.

    •             Conducts employee relations investigations and reviews employee grievances, discrimination and/or harassment claims. Coordinates with supervisors and managers as needed.

    •             Ensures compliance in maintaining employee records in the record filing system that meets the needs of the community and meets current employment practices.

    •             Administers employee benefits program, leads annual open enrollment, conducts regular audits of benefits and 401k programs.

    •             Consults with department directors and managers on hiring, discipline, and terminations to ensure fairness and consistency company-wide.

    •             Develops, writes and maintains written job descriptions and performance evaluations for each staff position in accordance with pertinent laws.

    •             Advises on recruitment and placement strategies, local training/development needs, labor and management-employee relations, classification and position management.

    •             Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory and reporting agencies and legal compliance with all applicable governmental laws and regulations covering the areas of wage and hour, affirmative action, EEOC, OFCCP, HIPPA, etc.

    •             Executes COBRA packets for benefit terminations.

    •             Administers and submits worker’s compensation claims and safety programs, including OSHA reporting and compliance as needed.

    •             Ensures federal, state and local compliance regarding record keeping and personnel matters.

    •             Ensures filing for electronic reports and compliance with Affordable Care Act and its regulations.

    •             Processes and maintains all records concerning employee Health, Dental, and Vision insurances; Section 125 Cafeteria Flexible Benefits Plan; Life and Disability Insurances; Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA); Worker’s Compensation; COBRA and Unemployment.

    •             Analyzes applicable laws, regulations, and policies, and prepare summaries, recommendations, and guidance for use by management officials.

    •             Submits weekly timesheets for temporary agency staff.

    •             Serves as administrator for all social media platforms.

     

    Qualifications:

    •             Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or related field, or equivalent experience and education.

    •             Knowledge of human resource laws and regulations.

    •             Understanding of compensation and benefits policies and programs, employee relations practices, and recruitment techniques.

    •             Five (5) plus years of progressive experience in human resource positions. Supervisory experience required.

    •             Strong analytical skills. Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

    •             Human Resource certification preferred.

    •             Demonstrates ability to work well with employees and management.

    •             Thrive in a high paced growth company with constant change.

    •             Self-motivated; ability to function without continuous supervision in a fast-paced environment.

    •             Ability to proficiently use a computer and various software packages.

    •             Ability to provide an open-door environment; maintain an approachable demeanor.

    •             Flexible; good time management; ability to manage multiple tasks.

    •             Ability to work effectively in a highly confidential environment.

     

    Physical Demands:

    •             Sit for extended periods of time.

    •             Read computer screens and mail, email, talk on the phone.

    •             Ability to unpack and move supplies up to thirty (30) pounds.

     

    Work Environment:

    •             Professional and deadline-oriented environment in an office setting.

    •             Interaction with staff and customers.
