2021. KDHE is comprised of three divisions: Public Health, Environment, and Health
Care Finance (which includes the State’s Medicaid program, KanCare). We are the only
agency in the nation to have these three entities under one roof which allows us to take
a holistic approach to improving and protecting the health and well-being of all Kansans.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
The Junior Recruiter assists Agency by serving as liaison between supervisor and
temporary contract vendor. Work with temporary contract vendor and supervisors on the
candidate selection to ensure timely and appropriate selections of temporary staff. As
part of the onboarding process the incumbent confirms the recruiting supervisor has
completed the necessary IT requests to ensure KDHE IT has adequate information to
set up temporary equipment and create computer access. Incumbent will track the
temporary vendor through the KDHE’s personnel management system (MyOPS).
The Recruiter oversees the entire recruitment process of qualified candidates within
your Division once a position is approved to fill. Works with recruiting supervisors to
generate meaningful and descriptive screening criteria and interview questions.
Recruiter will provide front-line customer service be the point of contact for recruitment
related to KDHE. The Recruiter will work closely with the HR team, Hiring Managers
and Leadership to ensure all recruitment needs are met for the Division. Work with HR
assistant to process all new hires for NEO. Make sure org chart are updated weekly.
Attend Job Fairs and other recruitment related functions.
The Generalist oversees the entire recruitment process of qualified candidates for the
Division of Environment (DOE) once a position is approved to fill. Works with recruiting
supervisors to generate meaningful and descriptive screening criteria and interview
questions. The incumbent posts and advertises open positions on the State of Kansas
website and any other approved recruitment site to generate the maximum number of
candidates possible. When necessary the incumbent may go to career fairs to promote
DOE positions. Incumbent works with the HR staff to verify applicants are uploaded into
KDHE's personnel management system (MyOPS) then assists the recruiting supervisor
with screening applicants to determine top qualified candidates. As necessary the
incumbent participates in the interviewing process of candidates. Once all candidates
are interviewed the incumbent will review the recruiting supervisor's interview summary
and reference checks. If a top candidate is selected the incumbent gathers all relative materials (i.e., application, transcript, work history, recruitment file) and performs a
background check. Once complete the incumbent works with the Assistant HR Director
to determine appropriate salary level and extends an offer to the candidate.
Qualifications:
Education
- High School, GED
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience in planning, directing, organizing, managing oradministering personnel or human resources functions. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
