Human Resources Professional - KDOT | Open until 04/24/2024

    This Human Resource Professional position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Human Resources. This position posts job advertisements, screens applications, and works directly with personnel resources and senior managers to ensure that positions are filled in a timely manner while adhering to State of Kansas & KDOT policies and procedures.

    Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
    •  Works directly with Bureau Chiefs and managers to determine required and preferred skills and competencies and develops screening instruments.
    •  Writes job postings, establishes close dates, and reviews applications.
    •  Prepares and sends correspondence to applicants informing them of incomplete application material, interview status and position vacancy information.
    •  Advises applicants of vacancies, job requirements and necessary procedures for obtaining employment with KDOT.
    •  Provides hiring offices with employment applications and supporting documentation for qualified applicants.
    •  Provides support for developing interview questions and reviews interview results for compliance with policies and procedures.
    •  Monitors interview selection process for proper documentation and resolves problems involving the hiring and selection process.
    •  Maintains a vacancy & applicant tracking system to ensure appropriate notifications are sent and the hiring process for each vacancy is completed.
    •  Maintains a recruitment filing system.
    •  Develops relationships with the public, organizations, communities, and groups to promote the agency and recruit qualified minority applicants.
    •  Participates in job fairs, applicant workshops, onsite screening, and other activities to recruit diverse applicants and applicants for difficult-to-fill positions. Works with technical schools, colleges, and other continuing education offices to communicate the availability of programs relative to KDOT.
    •  Provides backup coverage to other Recruitment positions as needed.

    Qualifications:
    Minimum Qualifications:
    •  One year of experience in planning, directing, organizing, managing, or administering personnel or human resources functions.
    •  Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
    Transcripts are required for education to be considered.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    •  Experience recruiting, posting, and filling open positions.
    •  Experience working in the Recruitment module in ShaRP.

    •  Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03.
