Human Resources Manager - Koss Construction

    Koss Construction Company is currently seeking an energetic and experienced Human Resources professional to join our team as our Human Resources Manager.

    The ideal candidate thrives on challenges and working in a fast-paced environment.  This includes flexibility to respond to Human Resource matters after hours, as needed, with regular travel to our jobsites.  The Human Resources Manager will champion employee benefits management, payroll administration, and employee relations.  The position will ensure Koss Construction Company remains in regulatory compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.  Position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

    Employment:

    Work with Field HR staff to manage employment process including job ads, coordinating career fairs, employment screening, employment and promotion offers, pre-employment drug screens, background checks, onboarding and exit process Open communication with management to proactively understand employment needs Ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting including timely submission of certified payrolls Complete wage decision integration from all open contracts Oversee administration of unemployment claims Keep job descriptions up to date and accurate Coordinate, mail and answer questions for W-2’s and 1095-C’s

    Benefits Administration:

    Recommend, administer, and communicate benefits programs including medical, dental, life, disability, voluntary products, retirement, vacation, leave of absence and employee assistance Coordinate annual Open Enrollment benefits process Maintain Affordable Care Act records Oversee annual audit of retirement plan and submission of required filings for benefit programs (5500 filings, non discrimination testing).

    Maintain employee eligibility records and employee participation records for all benefit plans including retirement Coordinate wellness program administration including biometric screening and challenge events Manage retirement plan contribution reporting Ensure reconciliation and accuracy of benefits invoices and payment

    Compliance:

    Study legislation and legal updates for changing requirements and assessing industry trends.

    Conduct continual education for supervision on Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, anti-harassment and other requirements Perform active guidance for disciplinary and termination matters Perform investigation confidentially to bring resolution of employee issues, concerns, and conflicts.  Investigation may involve unexpected travel to jobsites to complete investigation.

    Ensure company policies are current with industry practices and maintain company policy books.

    Recommend new policies, approaches and procedures Coordinate, supervise and provide development for HR Administrative Assistant Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics Recommend updates to compensation and benefit strategy to remain competitive for our industry.

    Maintain company directory and organization charts Coordinate and plan annual Employee Appreciation & Awards Dinner Maintain Company Honor Roll and Recognized Employee Premium Devote time to industry and focused professional functions and continuing education opportunities

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or other relevant area of study Minimum five (5) years previous job-related experience in which two (2) years must be in a management role Experience supporting multiple locations and personnel over a diverse, multi-state region

    Preferred:

    Basic background and understanding of construction industry

    Travel:

    Routine monthly travel to job sites in Midwest region
