Human Resources Intern - BCBSKS
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas has an exciting opportunity for a student wanting experience in the HR field.
This intern opportunity will directly assist Human Resources staff with a wide range of functions related to talent acquisition, HR projects, DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion), compensation and benefits, workplace wellness and/or employee relations. The intern will take the skills they learned and apply them in a professional setting. The purpose is to gain a better understanding of the role Human Resources plays and will provide the intern real world experiences to be better prepared to work in the private industry.
The Human Resources Intern will learn:
Steps in the recruiting and hiring process, including sourcing, screening resumes, conducting video or in-person interviews, corresponding with applicants and making job offers.
The importance of employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentially, and employee relations.
Employee benefits management related to benefits enrollment and termination, troubleshooting employee benefits issues and the customer service aspect of benefits oversight.
Collection, analysis, validation, and manipulation of human resources data from multiple sources. Will assist in creating/modifying reports and with any HR related projects.
The importance of diversity, equity and inclusion within the company and will help build recognition around and provide support to these initiatives.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What we are looking for:
Currently enrolled student at a four-year university in an undergraduate or graduate program with an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better. If in an undergraduate program, the student will be a junior or senior.
The individual's area of study must be related to Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or Social Sciences
Strong organization and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Problem solving capabilities necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the internship.
Strong PC skills (Windows operating system, e-mail, HRIS, internet browsing and research).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).
Team player who is able to work with multiple departments.
Need to be self-motivated and be able to carry out activities with a minimum of supervision.
Ability to maintain confidentially of sensitive data required.
