HR Generalist - WaterOne

    Summary/Objective

    This position is responsible for providing a full range of HR support services to WaterOne divisions and departments. HR Generalists contribute significantly to WaterOne goals and objectives by driving programs and processes that build, support and promote a compelling employment brand at WaterOne. HR Generalists help ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, policies, and procedures.

    Responsibilities | Essential Functions

    •             Plan, develop, and implement talent acquisition activities/programs aimed at creating a positive candidate experience and building, supporting and promoting a strong employment brand. Proactively seek market intelligence to gain competitive advantage in attraction, assessment and sourcing methodologies. Suggest new ideas for improving talent acquisition activities.

    •             Coordinate the recruitment and selection process for both internal and external hires, ensuring compliance with all applicable legal and policy-related requirements. Post jobs, source and screen candidates, and participate in interviews with hiring managers and others, as appropriate. Coordinate the pre-employment processes, including preparing offer recommendations, extending job offers, and facilitating pre-employment drug and background screens. Provide feedback to hiring team, as appropriate.

    •             Utilize effective processes and methods to source, assess, and select candidates in coordination with input from interviewing teams and hiring managers. Act as a partner with hiring managers by developing positive relationships and a strong understanding of the organization and hiring needs. Actively work toward sourcing and selecting diverse and qualified employees to support the organization. Manage candidate pools to ensure qualified candidates remain engaged in current or future opportunities. Build long-term relationships with past and potential candidates.

    •             Create and maintain partnerships with employment agencies, universities and other schools, professional organizations, and talent acquisition vendors to effectively network and develop a pipeline of candidates.

    •             Administer applicant tracking software (ATS) and related processes to create an easy and seamless way for candidates to apply for WaterOne positions.

    •             Identify, measure, and communicate meaningful talent acquisition metrics.

    •             Maintain appropriate sourcing and recruiting records according to regulations and policy. Ensure compliance with EEO requirements.

    •             Plan, develop, and implement employee activities/programs and employee communications aimed at creating a positive work environment and building, supporting and promoting a strong employment brand. Identify and recommend new employee-focused initiatives. Coordinate, organize, and drive employee events utilizing cross-functional employee teams, as appropriate. Promote diversity and inclusion through employee engagement initiatives.

    •             Coordinate employee communications for various HR initiatives in support of effective change management processes and being mindful of a consistent employment brand. Work with HR leadership to define overall HR communication needs and strategy; develop and execute communication plan ensuring that all messages and methods are connected to the overall strategy and business priorities.

    •             Develop, maintain and facilitate WaterOne's new hire orientation program and provide input and recommendations for further onboarding activities.

    •             Prepare, create and update employee job descriptions in coordination with input from managers and incumbents.

    •             Facilitate and support performance management processes. Assist employees and managers with performance related discussions, as needed.

    •             Coordinate the exit survey process and provide analysis of survey results. Upon request, conduct other workforce data statistical analyses aimed at identifying and ultimately addressing areas of potential improvement.

    •             Provide employee orientation for new employees as well as those changing employment statuses, i.e. part-time to full-time.

    •             Improve organizational attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices, monitoring job offers and compensation practices, and emphasizing benefits and perks. Help to ensure that HR policies, procedures, and programs follow pertinent Federal and State regulations.

    •             Develop effective relationships across the organization and champion positive employee engagement. Function as an “advocate” for employees at all levels of the organization. Serve as a resource to employees related to employment activities, processes, policies, HRIS, etc. Provide advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding employee practices, performance improvement policies and employment laws.

    •             Serve as brand ambassador at various events, such as career fairs and other recruiting events, networking events, HR professional organizations, etc. Collaborate with Communications team to develop creative ways for addressing talent acquisition and employee engagement needs.

    •             Prepare and maintain employee files and HRIS system, as applicable, while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with company state and federal regulations.

    •             Work within the salary administration system, including coordinating employment offers utilizing the offer matrix, salary changes and interpretation of salary related policies and procedures to ensure consistency throughout the organization. Conduct salary, benefits, and other HR related surveys.

    •             Avoid legal challenges by understanding current legislation, enforcing policies and appropriate practices with managers, recommending new procedures, and conducting training, as designated.

    •             Create and maintain partnerships with professional organizations and assigned vendors to effectively network and establish and maintain excellent service and business relationships.

    •             Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Attend meetings and seminars to stay abreast of employee compliance and related laws; monitor trends and advise the organization appropriately.

    •             Provide input, as necessary, for the applicable sections of the WaterOne budget. Manage budgeted resources appropriately.

    Other Duties

    •             Assist as needed during open enrollment period by preparing benefit materials, answering employee questions, and processing enrollment documents.

    •             Assist with and carry out special projects as assigned.

    •             Serve as a backup to other HR staff, as requested.

    •             Perform administrative support functions in conjunction with the above listed responsibilities.

    •             Performs other job duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required Education, Skills & Experience

    •             Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or advanced degree in Business Administration or related discipline.

    •             3-5 years of professional human resources experience.

    •             Requires 1-3 years of talent acquisition and/or employee engagement experience.

    •             Excellent computer skills required, including experience with MS Office suite software and knowledge of HRIS software.

    •             Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, listening and presentation skills.

    •             Highly effective interpersonal skills.

    •             Good problem-solving skills

    •             Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality and establish credibility as a trusted HR professional.

    •             Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to human resource issues.

    •             Create and maintain accurate records and reports.

    •             Handle multiple tasks concurrently, meet deadlines, work independently, and exercise good judgment.

    •             Must meet WaterOne attendance standards.

    •             Must pass post offer medical exam, including background verification and drug screen (may not apply to current employees).

    Preferred Education, Skills & Experience

    •             Professional HR certification, such as one or more of the following: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, IPMA-CP, CBP, CCP, or CEBS.

    •             3-5 years of experience administering HRIS software.
