    Financial Analyst - Human Resources

    Security Benefit is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Human Resources team. Security Benefit has been dedicated to helping clients plan and save for retirement for over five decades.     General Accountabilities:

    As an integral part of the Human Resources Department, the Financial Analyst will support the administration of the company’s compensation and benefit programs. This role is responsible for the forecasting, planning and variance analysis of Human Capital costs, and assisting in the administration of Company retirement plans. This position reports directly to the AVP of Compensation.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries to general ledger accounts
    • Calculate salary, benefit, bonus, tax forecasts, and budgets; prepare data for system input
    • Perform monthly expense review and variance analysis
    • Prepare supporting schedules and exhibits for Financial Reporting
    • Administer day-to-day operations for a defined benefit Pension Plan, including coordination of participant retirements and distributions, responding to participant inquiries, providing census data for valuation by the Pension Administrator, distributing Annual Funding Notices and ensuring overall compliance of the Plan
    • Provide support for internal/external auditors by gathering data, preparing schedules and responding to inquiries
    • Process data changes and update employment files in Human Resource systems
    • Identify process improvement opportunities for workflows
    • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
    • Two years of accounting or analytical experience preferred
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
    • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook or similar programs
    • Experience working with PeopleSoft preferred
    • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines with attention to detail
    • High level of interpersonal skills and integrity, with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; and
    • Ability to demonstrate self-sufficiency with accessing, processing and interpreting information
