Hiring People With Disabilities, Hiring Unlimited Potential
Speakers
Carrie Greenwood has a passion for promoting empowerment and leadership for ALL people, especially youth and women with disabilities. She expresses her passion through her work and volunteer positions. Carrie currently works for the Kansas Youth Empowerment Academy (KYEA) in Topeka, KS, which is a non-profit organization that works to educate, mentor, and support youth with disabilities in Kansas. She has served as the Program Coordinator for the past 16 years and previously served as the Outreach Coordinator for four years prior to that. Carrie has also led Ms. Wheelchair Kansas, Inc. for the past 21 years, and currently serves as the President/CEO of this organization. She currently serves as the Chairperson of the Kansas Disability Caucus Board of Directors and the Association of Youth Leadership Forums (AYLF). Carrie holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Design Technology from Washburn University. She is also a graduate of the Kansas Youth Leadership Forum, served as Ms. Wheelchair Kansas 2004, was a YWCA of Topeka Women of Excellence Award nominee in 2008 and 2024, was one of Topeka’s 2013 20 Under 40 Honorees, was awarded the Judy Hoit Legacy Award from the Ms. Wheelchair America organization, and was selected as an “Everything Woman” for KSNT News in 2024. In her free time, Carrie enjoys listening to music, volunteering at her church, reading a good fiction book, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.
Dallas Hathaway is a disability rights advocate at the Disability Rights Center of Kansas (DRC). He is also the president of the Kansas Youth Empowerment Academy (KYEA) Board of Directors. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Washburn University in 2016. He has previously worked with other disability-oriented organizations in the past. Some of these include the Topeka Independent Living Resource Center (TILRC), and ADAPT, a national grassroots disability rights organization. Dallas is a person with a physical disability who uses a power wheelchair. He has previous experience with self-advocacy and has worked with people who have disabilities of all kinds. Dallas has been a member of the DRC team since 2016.

Attendees will receive 1.0 hour of HRCI and SHRM recertification credit for the chapter meeting presentation - pending approval.
Please note: Parking in the KDHE lab parking lot is somewhat limited and on a first come, first served basis. There is additional parking across the street inthe Judicial parking lot. Walking (if you work downtown) or carpooling is encouraged. See map below.
