    Because we understand that faculty and staff drive the success of the university, we are seeking applications for an exceptional Chief Human Resources Officer, passionate about serving their colleagues. This is a full-time, exempt position, located on-site at the Baldwin City campus. This position reports to the President of the University. The successful candidate is dependable, flexible, practical, supportive and stable, and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to quickly gain trust and rapport.

    The CHRO supports the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Professional and Graduate Studies, the School of Education, and serves as a liaison for the School of Nursing. The CHRO is responsible for providing leadership to the Department of Human Resources, including the planning, leading, directing, development and coordination of policies, activities, and staff of the department. They also maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes. They are responsible for day to day human resources department management and planning; coordination of the hiring and employee evaluation process, compensation and benefits, including student insurance; employee relations, and serves as the university’s Title IV Deputy Coordinator.

    Experience and Education:

    Five years human resource management experience required, higher education industry experience preferred. Strong employee relations and investigation experience required as well as proven understanding of FMLA and ADA administration required. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR strongly preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn HRIS systems. Demonstrated decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Proven ability to quickly gain trust and rapport.
