    Job Title: Benefits and Payroll Specialist

    Position Summary:

    Ensures accurate and efficient processing of payroll records for all Kansas Dept of Revenue employees utilizing the Statewide Human Resource and Payroll System (SHaRP), which includes all the benefits and payroll modules. Responds to questions from employees, supervisors and managers regarding regulations and agency policies, benefits, salaries, and time and leave.  Meets with KDOR employees face to face, by phone, and email and works with the agency bureau contacts on a regular basis.  Functions as the primary contact and provides guidance and interpretation on payroll, benefits, FMLA, Shared Leave, Paid Parental Leave, Workers Comp, KPERS, and other state benefits.  Conducts initial orientation for new employees, including personnel and payroll policies, benefits consultation and an overview of major state and federal government laws and policies.  Compiles data from various SHaRP and statistical reports.
