This position is located at our Topeka, KS corporate office and has the potential to be a hybrid position with up to 50% remote work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position is to support the Payroll Services department, specifically state and local employment taxes. Duties include but are not limited to:
Prepare, monitor, and audit employment tax related information to ensure the accuracy of tax withholdings;
Perform SAP master data updates to employee records;
File monthly, quarterly, and annual state and local employment tax returns;
Assist in ensuring accurate and timely payment of RRB, federal, and state/local tax payments;
Assist with inquiries from employees and external agencies in a timely manner;
Assist in testing and validating SAP system changes and enhancements;
Maintain and safeguard highly sensitive and confidential information and comply with all related internal and external policies and regulations.

Must be available after hours, weekends, and holidays as necessary as well as open to periodic travel.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other related field OR 1-2 years’ relevant work experience;
Must have solid problem solving, planning and organization, teamwork and excellent communication skills;
Must have strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and competing work demands simultaneously;
Ability to maintain a high level of productivity while working independently and in a team environment;
Ability to take on multiple projects and coordinate processes between departments;
Candidate must possess a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills consistent with the BNSF Leadership Model.
Preferred Qualifications:
A solid understanding of employment taxes and a working knowledge of SAP;
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP);
A Master’s degree in Accounting or CPA.
