Senior HR Benefits Specialist - City of Topeka
The City of Topeka is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior HR Specialist in the Benefits section of the Human Resources Department.
The Senior HR Specialist performs specialized and complex professional personnel duties in the administration of employee benefits and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the group benefits programs. The position also provides excellent customer service, assists in the recommendation and development of benefit plans and programs, monitors the benefit administration and provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs, as well as other duties as assigned.
Primary Duties include:
Maintains employee benefit enrollment and changes, and audits vendor systems for accuracy.
Provide responses and guidance to employee inquiries regarding benefits. Also produces the annual Benefits Guide, and other employee benefit and wellness communications.
Responsible for planning and presenting the New Hire Orientation program, and managing the new hire process.
Responsible for the reconciliation and auditing of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoices from vendors and billing at home for employees on leave.
Tracks and uploads employee payroll deductions into HRIS system, and works closely with payroll staff to ensure proper benefit deductions from paychecks.
Coordinates and facilitates the City's employee benefit and wellness fair, and open enrollment meetings with various departments.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public, business or human resource management, industrial psychology or a closely related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree.
Must have at least three years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management. Must possess and maintain a valid KS Driver’s license and city-insurable driving record.
