Research and Development: Incumbent will be required to research scholarship opportunities for high school, community college, university, adult learning groups etc., and develop a database of scholarship opportunities for employees starting education, continuing education, entering into a trade school, or other certification that would require financial expense. Assess KDHE internship opportunities and develop analysis and reporting system of areas that may benefit from interns including the business reasoning behind intern investment. Seek out grants and other funding related to internship and scholarship, that could be proposed and developed to back budgeting of internship and scholarship related programming. Develop database of schools that may have students with skill sets required for positions within different Divisions, Bureau’s, and sections of KDHE. Assess exit surveys, stay surveys, and pulse surveys, to gather data that may better inform KDHE on how to develop and improve internship and scholarship programs. Spearhead outreach to various agency heads, managers, supervisors, etc., to acquire information regarding the skill sets they are looking for within their Bureau’s and sections that could inform a more robust internship and scholarship program. Implement a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis annually regarding internship and scholarship program.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Coordination and Outreach: Develop internship survey program, to build data backing regarding intern experience, development, and skills building within the programs through which the internship was designed, to improve intern experience. Procure surveys from management regarding intern development, including skills developed, type of mentorship provided, learning program in which management provided for intern, etc. Procure surveys from interns regarding area in which the intern worked, perceptions of interns regarding work that was completed for KDHE, and overall experience in internship program. Outreach to schools: high schools, trade schools, universities, community colleges, etc., to build partnerships with school programs that will expand on the internship and scholarship programs and improve intern pipelines into KDHE. Conduct site visits to expand outreach to these various groups. Develop partnerships with scholarship and internship related organizations, websites, stakeholders, KDHE related partners, etc., to expand on scholarship and internship opportunities available to interns, staff, perspective interns, perspective staff etc. With the direct supervisor coordinate the development of a centralized platform that will be updated regularly and that will provide prospective interns, supervisors etc., with a location in which to find connection opportunities both internally and externally at KDHE.
Qualifications
Education:
High School, GED
Licensing & Certification:
Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
Minimum Qualifications:
1 year of eligible work experience in recruiting, HR analytics, customer service, and or any other related profession.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Recruitment, Organizational Development, Strategic Communications, and/or related field
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
Proofreading, editing, attention to detail
Background working with schools, interns, applicants and pipelines for a government agency Local, State and/or Federal level.
