Director of Human Resources - Newcome Funeral Home

    Reporting to the President, the Director of Human Resources is a strategic leader and trusted advisor to the executive team, responsible for shaping and executing HR strategies that drive organizational success. This role oversees all aspects of human capital management, including compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, employee engagement, culture development, compliance, and workforce planning. The Director ensures HR initiatives align with business objectives, foster a positive and inclusive workplace, and leverage data-driven insights to support growth and innovation.

    • Remain up to date on internal company compliance reading as assigned.
    • Develop and maintain human resources policies, management plans and programs and be accountable for their communication and implementation.
    • Oversee the processes, procedures, and systems related to companywide compensation and benefits.
    • Support Home Office and Field level managers and leaders in ensuring positive employee relations.
    • Lead change management initiatives to support organizational agility and develop models to accurately forecast human resource needs.
    • Ensure all core HR functions are executed effectively, consistently and with the highest professional standards.
    • Oversee employee relations, recruitment, compensation, benefits, development and training, and human resource information systems.
    • Determine best practices and standardize HR operations where practical to promote organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Maintain current knowledge of employment laws and ensure compliance with regulatory matters in the human resources field, such as EEO, safety, etc.

    • Serves as primary liaison for employee legal, regulatory, and Department of Labor issues.
    • Light housekeeping to keep the facilities and grounds in perfect order. This includes keeping work areas tidy, picking up litter on the grounds and general straightening up.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
    • 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in a multi-location or hybrid workforce environment.
    • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferred
    • Proven ability to design and implement innovative HR programs in dynamic settings.
    • Strong knowledge of compensation strategy, performance systems, and talent acquisition best practices.
    • Proficiency in HR technology platforms and data analytics tools.
    • Experience leveraging social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) in support of HR efforts.
    • Ability to travel as needed.


    LOCATION
    Geographically, this position will be located in Topeka, Kansas. This is an in-office position.
