HR Intern, Projects - Kansas Bureau of Investigation

    The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is seeking applicants that are eager to learn about Human Resources and are looking for an internship opportunity! As a KBI Human Resources Intern, you will:

    • Familiarize yourself with the various functions of the KBI;
    • Learn about state statutes and regulations;
    • Learn state and federal law;
    • Conduct a personnel file audit and learn how to maintain them;
    • Develop efficiencies in processes and procedures;
    • Support the KBI Human Resources Office and KBI Executive Staff as needed.

    • Full/Part-time: Part-Time
    • Work Schedule:  15-20 hours/week (Flexible within M-F 8:00am – 5:00pm as approved by supervisor) Fall intern with possibility for extension
    • Regular/Temporary:  Temporary

    Compensation:

    • Hourly Pay Range: $12.00

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Education:

    • College sophomore, junior or senior, or graduate student majoring in human resource management, criminal justice, business administration or related degree.

    Desired Skills:

    • Computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment;
    • Self-Starter;
    • Positive Attitude;
    • Excellent problem solving skills;
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements

    As a condition of employment, you will be subject to a pre-employment process to include a polygraph examination, fingerprint based records check, and comprehensive background investigation, including reference check of past and present employers.  The pre-employment process will be waived for current KBI personnel who have previously completed the screening requirements.
