Join SHRM Topeka and Dr. Paula Daoust for an informative session on conquering fear and building confidence in high-stakes speaking situations! October will feature both a Chapter Meeting and a training session.
If you are attending both, you must register and pay for both sessions separately.
Training Session attendees will learn strategies to lower stress and help you think clearly in high-stakes speaking situations! You will also receive a free copy of Dr. Daoust's book and accompanying workbook, I Can Speak.
Description:
Are you stressed when faced with a high-stakes, high pressure speaking situation? Do you feel short of breath or does your heart beat faster? When you must speak in front of others, do you notice your hands getting a little sweaty or is your stomach feeling queasy?
This stress response can be a problem for both your career and your sense of self- esteem. If your response to a high-stakes, high pressure speaking situation is to avoid it altogether or when it can't be avoided, you find yourself freezing up and unable to find the right words, it's time to do something about it. Just imagine how your life would be different if you confidently embraced these situations and you could be calm and think clearly throughout.

Dr. Paula Daoust: My doctorate in behavioral psychology, training as a hypnotherapist, and personal experience of over twenty years coaching hundreds of people, has provided me with a unique understanding of the challenge speaking in high-stakes situations presents for many people.
