Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is looking to add to our HR Strategy team and has a new opportunity for an HR Business Partner. This position will play an essential role in establishing and driving talent strategies and HR programs forward, while ensuring they align with an organization’s overall business strategy. HR Business Partners cultivate collaborative partnerships with senior leaders to a build a high-performance culture that supports the organization’s growth, performance, and goals. Ultimately, HR Business Partners align an organization’s business strategy with their people strategies.
HR Business Partners help support and drive a variety of key initiatives and special programs within HR, building on the organization’s strong foundation, and delivering measurable value to help Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas unlock the potential of all business areas.
Your work will help reinforce our core values, build a strong, inclusive culture, and foster employee engagement. This position reports to the Manager, HR Programs, Projects, and HR Business Partners.

Compensation
$83,280 - $99,000
Exempt Grade 16
• Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.
What you’ll do
• Serve as an expert HR advisor and consultant to senior leaders to enhance people capability in pursuit of achieving organization-wide strategies.
• Provide strategic input, insight, and advice to senior leaders to develop people strategies and design approaches for diagnosing and enhancing organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.
• Guide and coach senior leaders through culture and change management, organizational design, strategic workforce and headcount planning, talent management, and effective people practices.
• Drive the delivery of talent processes and programs, and actively participate in the functional leadership teams as a partner to the business.
• Analyze and interpret various types of employee reports and identify key trends to guide decision making and provide proactive solutions to senior business leaders.
• As a driver of change in the organization, take an active role in shaping the future of the business and people strategies at every level.
• Closely align with and support the HR Generalist in understanding senior leaders' vision and strategy, and coaching and guiding managers and employees through culture and change management, talent management strategies and processes, and effective people practices.
• Collaborate with the HR team to champion and accelerate a culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top business results.
What you need
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field. In lieu of degree, minimum of 8 years progressive experience in Human Resources.
• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in Human Resources with strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines.
• Must be able to work at or interpret all levels of the HR stack: strategic, operational, and tactical, and influence effectively across all levels of an organization, navigate through ambiguity, and recognize when it is appropriate to introduce more structure and process without derailing the business.
• Excellent business acumen, must understand an organization and its challenges to help address the organizational and talent needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders across all levels in an open and honest way.
• Excellent analytical and conceptual problem solving with an ability to identify issues and coach senior business leaders to solutions.
• Skillful experience executing programs or projects with project management concepts, project organization and plans, resource coordination, managed implementation activities, and ongoing support.
• Strong ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
• High attention to detail, curiosity, taking initiative, and focus on driving processes through successful execution.
• Excellent self-management, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, capable of working with teams.
• Adaptable and agile; able to thrive within ambiguity.
• Excellent technical background in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Bonus if you have
• Certifications such as SHRM CP, PHR, or other equivalent Human Resources certifications preferred.
