    Benefits Counselor

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Daily work schedule to be mutually agreed to by Stormont Vail Health and Benefits Counselor
    • Facilitate and conduct New Hire Orientation meetings and group meetings
    • Conduct one on one individual enrollment meetings with employees to educate them on the benefits made available to them through their employer
    • Enroll employees in the plans by verifying eligibility, gathering required documentation, and assisting with post-enrollment customer service as needed.
    • Address benefit questions from employees throughout the year via email, drop-ins and telephonic outreach
    • Support other needs as identified by the Human Resources Department
    • Strictly adhere to all State and Federal regulations as it pertains to:
       o Obtaining and maintaining insurance licenses and carrier appointments in applicable states.
       o Meet and maintain Continuing Education requirements up to date.
       o Acquire and maintain any special certifications as necessary (i.e. LTC Certification)

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Excellent communications skills – both oral and written. Be able to use independent judgment in making decisions.
    • Excellent decision making and problem-solving ability.
    • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
    • Must be proficient with computer applications, such as Microsoft Office programs, and comfortable working with Internet applications.
    • Must be able and willing to accept direction and instruction.
    • Demonstrate honesty and ethical behavior; is dependable.
    • Must be flexible.
